Song Weilong: Who is he?
Song Weiloong was born in Dalian, Liaoning, China, on 25 March 1999 – his zodiac sign is Aries and he holds Chinese nationality. He is an actor and a model, perhaps best known for his portrayal of the lead character Fang Yuke in the romantic movie “Wo de qing chun dou shi ni” (Love the Way You Are) which was written and directed by Mengying Dai and which also starred Vivian Sung and Yen-Jou Lin. The movie was released on 21 June 2019 in China, and follows two neighboring students who fall in love with one another – for his performance, Song was awarded a China Movie Channel Media Award for Best New Actor.

Childhood and education
Song was raised alongside his two older sisters in Dalian by their mother, who was working at a local supermarket and their father who was a clerk in a lawyer’s office. Song was six when he fell in love with martial arts, after watching Jet Li perform in the movie “The New Legend of Shaolin”, and his mother agreed to let him live at a Shaolin temple, however, she soon brought him back home, as she believed he wouldn’t be able to keep up with his classes at school. Song was bullied while attending elementary school because he ‘looked old’, which is one of the reasons why he began taking wushu lessons as soon as he enrolled at a high school – after a year of practicing wushu, he began attending Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School, and today has two silver medals and one gold from wushu tournaments.
He matriculated from the school in 2017, and then chose to focus on his career as an actor rather than to pursue a college degree.
Career as an actor and a model
Song launched his acting career in 2016, when he was invited to portray the supporting character Ying Long in the fantasy series “Ban Yao Qing Cheng” (Demon Girl) which starred Jozef Waite, Zining Cheng and Johnny Huang, and is about a girl who is half-demon but isn’t aware of it. His next role was in the romantic series “Naeil Geudaewa” (Tomorrow with You) in 2017, the story of a boy who can travel through time by train, however, after he goes too far in time and sees himself single and leading a sad life, he comes back to his timeline and marries the girl he likes.
He was praised for his performance in the two TV series and was thus awarded an 11th Tencent Video Star Award for New Male Artist of the Year. For his achievements as a model, he won an OK! The Style Award for Fashion New Idol and a 14th Esquire Man At His Best Award for Newcomer of the Year. By the end of 2017, he received a Men’s UNO YOUNG Award for Most Promising Idol.
Also in 2017, Song began modelling for a variety of brands, such as Magnum, Safeguard and Silk Yun among others.
The year 2018 saw him star as Rong Zhi in the romantic series “Untouchable Lovers”, which won him the Lu Bai a Jury Award for Best Newcomer in a TV series in the story follows a woman whose goal in life is to overthrow the emperor.
In the same year, Song made his debut film appearance when he played Nan Ji in the fantasy movie “Dream Breaker”, about several teenagers who are playing the video game which is somehow connected to the real world.
Song started the year 2020 with his portrayal of the lead character Jiang Hai in the movie “Passage of My Youth”, and was then cast to appear in the series “Find Yourself” alongside his sister Victoria Song and Wang Yaoqing. In 2020 as well, he appeared in three Chinese TV series – “Beautiful Reborn Flower”, “In a Class of Her Own” and “Go Ahead”.
He has been cast to play the lead character Catman in the eponymous film, set to be released by the end of 2020.

Love life and girlfriend
Song is keeping his personal matters to himself, but it’s known that he has been in a relationship since January 2020. He was seen by his fans kissing Zhao Jiali, a Chinese actress and a supermodel, inside his car – the two then came out of the car holding hands, and entered a printing service store after Song zipped up her jacket.
There are rumors circulating the internet that Song has only been in a single long-term relationship before Zhao, and that the two dated from 2016 to 2019 – the break-up happened in July but the two had stopped being close to one another months before that.
It is also believed that he has been in several other relationships, but none of which have lasted longer than two months.
As of August 2020, Song is dating Zhao Jiali, he hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Song is interested in philanthropy, and was the youth ambassador of the charity event Green Bicycle Tour organized in Cheng Du on 19 March 2016 – at the event, he presented a collaboration between the cosmetics brand Innisfree and the crossover road bike company Yongjiu, and was in charge of hosting the fan meeting which took place after the event ended.
He is very close to his family and after receiving his first paycheck, he bought a necklace and bracelet for his mother, a shirt and jeans for his father, and only then things for himself.
Two of his hobbies include dancing and singing, and he’s been taught by his best female friend how to do both.
He is physically very active as he still practices martial arts while he also plays several sports such as basketball and soccer.
