Childhood and education
Wang was raised in Zhejiang an only child by her father who is an IT engineer, and her mother who is also a holder of a college degree – Wang hasn’t talked much about her parents, as they prefer to stay out of the spotlight.
She became interested in dance at a very early age, and began taking lessons at the age of seven which eventually helped with her singing career as well as her modelling career, which she launched at the age of 14.
She has posed for several famous magazines including “HIM”, while she appeared on the cover page of the Chinese magazine “Middle School Life” in 2015. Wang attended a local high school before she matriculated in 2019, and then focused on her singing career rather than to pursue a college degree.
Career as a singer and her group Everglow
Several members of the girl group Everglow tried launching their singing careers years before the group was launched by Yuehua Entertainment, but generally weren’t very successful. Future member Sihyeon competed in the reality TV show “Produce 101” in 2016. and after losing signed a contract with Yuehua.
She came back to compete in “Produce 48”, losing once again. Another future member of Everglow, Onda competed in the reality show “Idol School” in 2017, with poor results. Yuehua announced on 17 February 2019 that they were founding the new girl group called Everglow, which besides Wang would be made up of Aisha, Mia, Onda, Sihyeon and E:U – their Instagram account was opened on 18 February, while their first pictures together were uploaded onto the internet on 8 March.
Their debut album was released on 18 March 2019 entitled “Arrival of Everglow”, with the song “Bon Bon Chocolat” as its lead single, partly written by Melanie Fontana who has worked with some very famous musicians such as Tiffany Young and the boy group BTS. On 21 March 2019, the girls performed in a show for the first time, singing in “M Countdown”. By September 2019, their debut album had reached #6 on the Gaon Album Chart, while its lead single reached #5 on the World Digital Song Sales Chart. Their second album was released on 19 August 2019 called “Hush”, while the song “Adios” was its lead single.
The girls won their first show award on 24 September, when they performed in the reality TV program “The Show”.
Their debut mini-album came out on 3 February 2020 called “Reminiscence”, with the song “Dun Dun” as its lead single, which peaked at #63 on the Gaon Single Chart, while the album reached #4 on the Gaon Album Chart, selling nearly 28,000 copies in the first month of its release. “Dun Dun” became popular worldwide, attracting nearly 140 million views on YouTube.
The girls announced on 21 January 2020 that they would start their American tour in Dallas, Texas on 6 March 2020, called “Everlasting Tour in USA” – they were supposed to sing in five cities, including Atlanta in Georgia, Chicago in Illinois, Jersey City in New Jersey and Los Angeles in California, however, because of the coronavirus, they performed in four out of five cities, as their concert in Los Angeles had to be cancelled.
Relationships and boyfriend
Yuehua Entertainment has put a dating ban on its rookie artists, which is one of the main reasons why you are unlikely to hear about any girl from Everglow talking about their boyfriend or a crush.
The reason behind this ban is because it might damage the group’s reputation and their fanbase, and neither are the girls allowed to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol or undergo plastic surgery. It is also widely believed that Wang might be too young to date anyway, while there are rumors about two other Everglow members who might be in relationships. As of July 2020, Wang hasn’t talked about any boys she might have dated, nor about what would a boy have to look like or behave to get her to like him. So Wang is currently single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Wang has been nicknamed ‘Pomeranian’ by her colleague singers from Everglow, because she is the shortest among the girls, and is also the youngest member (someone they call ‘maknae’). Out of all the girls in the group, Wang is closest with Aisha, whom she considers to be her best friend, while she is also close to Yena, who is a member of the group Iz*One.
Wang likes to draw in her spare time, and is said to be very talented. She is a bit of a daydreamer and her favorite fantasy animal is a unicorn.
She is keen on tasting various cuisines, with Italian being her favorite mostly because she is a huge fan of pasta and spaghetti. She can’t eat fish, and likes to cook her own food. She likes to listen to music in her spare time, and two people whom she looks up to are Yoona and Jun Jihyun who are both members of the group SNSD.
