Early life, family and education

Lee was raised in Seoul as an only child by his mother who is working at a local hospital, and his father who is a dentist.

He became interested in singing at an early age but wasn’t at first allowed by his parents to practice, because they wanted him to attend college and find a well-paid job.

His parents eventually relented, and his mother enrolled him at a school for the performing arts at which he also practiced acting, dancing and rapping. He matriculated in 2015, but his parents weren’t happy to hear that their son signed a contract with YG Entertainment to become a trainee and deciding not to pursue a college degree – again, they came to terms with his choice.

Career as a K-pop singer

Lee trained under YG Entertainment for four years, then he and 28 other trainees were chosen to compete in the music program “TREASURE BOX”. It was later reported that Lee had decided to leave YG Entertainment, for unknown reasons, while the 12 boys who were top in the show got to debut as the boy group “Treasure” on 7 August 2020 with their single album “The First Step: Chapter One”.

After he left YG Entertainment, Lee signed a contract with D. Nation Entertainment, and then became a contestant in the music show “Produce X 101” launched to find members of a new boy group.

The show “Produce 101” gathered 101 trainees from various South Korean agencies and the final trainees who would eventually form a boy group were chosen via audience voting. It was revealed that the group would be performing under CJ E&M and Swing Entertainment and that they would sign a five-year contract two and a half of which they would have to be solely focused on their group before they would be allowed to do individual activities.

The show aired 12 episodes and Lee actually beat 64 other contests, before he was removed ranking #37 in the eighth episode on 21 June 2019, when 60 boys remained. All those who ranked after 30th were eliminated, but one of them was voted to return to the show by the audience, but it wasn’t Lee.

Lee has released only a single song – “X1-Ma” in 2019, which he recorded for “Produce 101” – and has also collaborated on a Christmas song “Hello Christmas” with Jung Myunghoon.

Love life and girlfriend

Lee has been keeping details of his love life to himself, and thus hasn’t commented on any girls he might have dated since he started working his way up in the music industry. It is widely known that the agencies of rookie artists do not allow them to date, nor to engage in several other things such as drink, smoke cigarettes and undergo plastic surgery. However, Lee is yet to debut with a group meaning he should be free to date as he is still only a trainee.

There are rumors circulating the internet that he was in a long-term relationship with a girl whom he met while attending high school, and it’s believed that they dated until they matriculated, when the girl went on to attend a college abroad and they decided not to maintain a long distance relationship.

As of August 2020, Lee is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
