Who is Jinjin (Astro)?
Park Jin ‘JinJin’ Woo was born in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, on 15 March 1996 – his zodiac sign is Pisces and he holds South Korean nationality. He is a singer and a drummer best known for being a member of the boy group Astro.

Childhood, family and education
JinJin was raised in Ilsan alongside his older brother by their father who was working at a local computer store, and their mother who was a cashier at a local supermarket.
JinJin became interested in dancing at a very early age, and started taking lessons at the age of nine. He attended Hanlim Multi Arts High School, at which he received the nickname ‘slow rapper’ because of the way he talks.
hile at the school, JinJin practiced singing, acting and dancing, and also spent several months at the NY Dance Academy (in Ilsan), at which he perfected his dancing. He matriculated from high school in 2014, but didn’t enroll at a college, choosing to focus on his singing career. In early 2015 he was noticed by a scout, and became a trainee at Fantagio.
Singing career and the group Astro
The boy group Astro was announced in August 2015 by Fantagio; before their debut, they were known as Fantagio iTeen. The members of the group were also announced: JinJin, Cha Eun-woo, MJ, Sanha, Rocky and Moonbin. In late 2015 the boys starred in the TV series “To Be Continued”, together with several other people, and also appeared in the reality show created by Fantagio for them, entitled “Astro OK! Ready”.
The boys debuted on 23 February 2016 with their first extended play (EP) “Spring Up”, with its main song “Hide & Seek” – the EP peaked at #6 on the Billboard World Albums Chart and at #4 on the Gaon Music Chart, and their fan club called Aroha was soon established. On 6 March Astro was invited to attend the LeTV Entertainment Awards held in China, the only South Korean group to receive an invitation. Their new EP “Summer Vibes” came out on 1 July with the song “Breathless” as the lead track, and it reached #21 on the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart, as well as #6 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. On 31 July, the boys sang in Los Angeles at KCON 2016, then on 27 August performed their first solo concert, held at Seoul’s KEPCO Art Center.
Throughout October and November, they performed in Thailand and Indonesia, and ended the year 2016 with the release of their third EP – “Autumn Story”.
On 22 February 2017, Astro’s debut studio album “Winter Dream” came out, with the song “Should Have Held On To You (Again)” as the lead track, but it didn’t attract much attention. nor did the boys promote it in TV shows. Their next EP “Dream Part.01” came out on 29 May, with the song “Baby” as the lead track, after which they started their first tour “The 1st ASTROAD” on 15 July, finishing on 29 August, with performances included in Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka.
Another EP – “Dream Part.02” – came out on 1 November, with the song “Crazy Sexy Cool” as the lead track, while they also released a special limited version of the album entitled “Dream Part.02 Wish”, which included a poem written by Eunwoo as well as some photos which the members of Astro took themselves with a polaroid tcamera.
In February 2018, ASTRO started a fan meeting tour around the world, during which they visited the US, Canada, Japan and Thailand, finishing the tour in March in South Korea. Their second album “Rise Up” with the lead single “Always You” came out on 24 July 2018, but was once again wasn’t promoted heavily at all.
Their follow-up album – “All Light” – came out on 16 January 2019, which they announced as their debut album as they were finally able to promote it in TV shows after fixing their contract with Fantagio, and also on their second big tour “The 2nd ASTROAD Tour”, performing around North America and Asia.
On 29 January, the boys competed in the South Korean music program “The Show”, winning it with their song “All Light”, actually their first TV show victory. Their debut Japanese EP “Venus” came out on 3 April 2019, made up of three original Japanese songs plus three of their older songs sung in Japanese – “Venus” peaked at #2 on the Oricon Daily Albums Chart. Astro’s new (sixth) EP was released on 20 November entitled “Blue Flame”, but Moonbin couldn’t participate in the EP’s promotion due to health problems.
Astro’s special album “One&Only” came out on 13 March 2020, marking four years of the group’s existence. Their seventh EP – “Gateway” – followed on 4 May with the song “Knock” as the lead single, shortly after which the group competed in the South Korean music program “Show Champion” on 13 May, achieving their second show victory. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the boys held an online concert on 28 June – “2020 ASTRO Live on WWW” – they also used the opportunity to sing their latest digital single, “No, I Don’t”, which was released on the same day.
Love life and girlfriend
While JinJin hasn’t commented on any girls he might have dated, because his agency has put a dating ban on him and his friends from Astro, it has recently been reported that JinJin might be in a secret relationship with a mysterious girl.
After a fan of JinJin’s asked him how he would like to be called in 2019, he responded ‘Ddaengeul’, which means soft – the same fan later found a girl on Instagram whose cat was called Ddaengeul as well. Looking further through her account, she found out that JinJin and the girl who owns the account are wearing the same couple bracelets and the same shoes – JinJin’s legs and shoes can also be seen in one of the girl’s pictures while he’s standing next to her. Neither JinJin nor Fantagio have commented on the alleged relationship.
After being asked by a fan, Astro has stated how he would like to date a girl who has her own opinion and her own attitude. When asked about whom he would date if he was a girl, he chose Eunwoo who, as he believes, is the most handsome boy he knows.
Hobbies and other interests
JinJin likes to learn languages so that he can communicate with more people – he is fluent in Korean and English and knows basic Chinese.
He likes to go shopping for clothes, and his favorite color is green (which is why he can often be seen wearing green clothes).
He is keen on eating fast food, and his favorite is pizza while he also likes a variety of drinks but his favorite has always been coffee.
One of JinJin’s main hobbies is watching movies and TV series in his spare time – two of his favorite dramas are “Jang Bogo” and “Emperor of the Sea”.
Two of his favorite musicians are G-Dragon who is a member of BigBang and, San E who is a solo rapper.
JinJin is an excellent street dancer and has won many competition, his first while still attending high school. He likes to play the drums too, and is also an avid beatboxer.
Age, height, tattoo and net worth
JinJin’s age is 24. He has short brown hair which he dyes black, and his eyes are brown as well. His height is 5ft 7ins (1.69m) and he weighs around 140lbs (64kgs). He has two tattoos: a lion on the right side of his chest and a writing on his left rib.
As of August 2020, his net worth has been estimated at over $300,000.
