Who is Yves (LOONA)?
Ha Soo ‘Yves’ Young was born in Busan, South Korea, on 24 May 1997 – her zodiac sign is Gemini and she holds South Korean nationality. She is a singer and a dancer, best known for being a member of the girl group LOONA, while she has also launched her career as a solo singer.
Childhood and family
Yves spent the first several years of her childhood in Busan, where she was raised an only child by her father who was a car mechanic, and her mother who is the owner of her own clothing shop. The family then moved to Yangsan in South Gyeongsang Province, where Yves will spent the rest of her upbringing.

She became interested in singing and dancing while attending kindergarten, and when she turned 10 she watched the group Wonder Girls perform on TV. and was instantly attracted to their uniforms and singing skills – it was then that she decided that she wanted to become a professional singer one day.
She started practicing her dancing skills in 2015, when she enrolled at the Dance Up Academy, and on 25 October the first video featuring Yves dancing was uploaded onto YouTube, entitled “Dance Up Jr: K-Pop Cover Dance”. Yves then appear often in the academy’s videos, featuring in her last video there on 15 July 2016, called “Reddy – 생각해 : E:Na Choreography.
Career as a singer and her band LOONA
Yves’ career was really launched in 2015, when she signed a contract with Hunus Entertainment, where she practiced singing together with her friends Bella from the group ELRIS, and Eunchae from the group DIA. Shortly after signing with Hunus, Yves became a member of a dance group without letting her mother know, because she had wanted Yves to focus on her studies, but she eventually told her.
After this, Yves joined the South Korean record label Blockberry Creative, which announced on 2 October 2016 that it would be launching a girl group, later revealing that four members of this group would be HeeJin, HaSeul, HyunJin and YeoJin.
Blockberry then announced the creation of the group’s first sub-unit, called Loona 1/3, made up of LOONA’s initial four members, plus the new girl ViVi. Their debut extended play (EP) “Love & Live” came out on 13 March 2017, and was played in the reality TV show “Inkigayo” on the same day, before the repackaged version of the EP was released on 27 April.
LOONA’s second sub-unit was created on 21 September 2017 called Loona Odd Eye Circle and their debut EP “Mix & Match” came out on the same day before the girls performed in the popular South Korean music program “M Countdown”.
Yves joined LOONA in November 2017, followed by the release of her eponymous single album on 28 November, and on 30 May 2018, LOONA’s third sub-unit was created called Loona yyxy, and they released their debut EP “Beauty & the Beat” on the same day.
It was announced on 15 August 2018 that the entire group LOONA (all three sub-units together) would be releasing their first EP – it came out on 20 August entitled “[+ +]” (“plus plus”) including songs such as “Favorite” and “Hi High”. The EP was released in its repackaged edition on 19 February 2019 as “[X X]” (“multiple multiple”).
On 17 August 2019, the girls performed for the first time in the US at KCON 2019, held in Los Angeles, California, and on 13 December, to show their appreciation to their fans, they released a song for them called “365”. LOONA produced their second extended play “[#]” (“hash”) on 5 February 2020, with the song “So What” as its lead single.
The girls won their first show on 12 March 2020, when they competed in “M Countdown”.
LOONA actually won its first award in 2018 – an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Korean Act.
In 2019, they won a Soribada Best K-music Award for Performance, an MTN Ad Festival Award for Commercial Star Rookie, and two Asia Artist Awards for Popularity (Girl Group) and Focus (Singer). They have been nominated for around 20 other awards.
Love life and boyfriend
Yves hasn’t talked about any boys she might have dated, and it’s widely known that the girls and boys who are members of South Korean groups aren’t allowed by their agencies to be dating, because this might have a negative impact on the groups’ reputations and popularity.
Besides dating, Yves also isn’t allowed to drink, smoke or undergo plastic surgery, and doing something which goes against these rules would have her kicked out of the group. There are, however, rumors circulating the internet that the singer was in a relationship with her high school sweetheart from 2013 to 2015, and that they dated for two years before she decided to focus on her singing career, and moved to another city.
As of July 2020, Yves is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and interests
Yves’ main hobby is cooking and according to her friends from LOONA, she is the best cook among them.
According to Olivia Hye, Yves has a great sense of humor, and is among the most humorous LOONA girls – she is also the only girl who is not afraid of bugs, and once caught a mosquito with her hands. Yves is actually a big lover of animals, and has a pet dog.
She likes to eat at a variety of places so that she can choose her favorite (which she is yet to find) – her favorite foods are chicken feet, fries and rice cakes while she likes all kinds of carbonated drinks.
Yves likes to read romantic books in her spare time, and her favorite is “Message in a Bottle” written by Nicholas Sparks. She is also keen on listening to South Korean musicians in her spare time, and her idol is Sunmi who was a member of the girl group Wonder Girls.
She also likes watching Hollywood movies, and her favorite actor and actress are Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet while some of her favorite movies are “Titanic”, “Good Will Hunting” and “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.

Yves is 23 years old. Her hair and eye color are brown, her height is 5ft 4ins (1.66m) while she weighs around 100lbs (46kgs). As of July 2020, Yves’ net worth is estimated at over $300,000.
