Childhood and education
Yoojung was raised in South Korea alongside her younger sister, by their father who is a lawyer and their mother who is a dentist. Yoojung became interested in dancing at a very early age – she was only five years old when she saw teenagers dance on TV, and decided that it was something she would like to do one day.
Her mother enrolled her at a dance school when she turned seven, and Yoojung joined her first dance crew shortly after she enrolled at a high school. Upon matriculating in 2010, she focused on dancing while simultaneously attending Pratt Institute at which she studied Interior Design – she graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and continued her education at the Fashion Institute of Technology, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design.
Career as a dancer and other ventures
Yoojung is best known for the work she has done as a choreographer working at 1Million Dance Studio, and most of the dance routines she has created can be seen on the dance studio’s YouTube channel, which is subscribed to by over 21 million people. She is also an Instagram star herself, as she has gathered nearly 500,000 followers on her account, mostly uploading pictures related to her dancing.
Yoojung has also been active in her field of studies, and since she obtained her degrees has been more active at other works than as a dancer and choreographer.
In May 2012, she joined Wow Art Studio in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea, at which she worked as a teaching assistant, helping students prepare their college applications and their portfolios, while she also helped teachers prepare their curricula. She stayed there until August 2013, and then focused on dancing for two years before joining Gap Inc./Banana Republic in May 2015, where she worked as a merchandising intern – she was in charge of organizing information needed for development, sample requests, and assisting senior sourcing merchandisers, but held the position for only four months before dedicating herself to dancing once again.
In January 2018, she started working at Issey Miyake USA Corp in Greater New York City Area, as their visual merchandising intern, helping to maintain VM standards in both wholesale and retail locations, and was in charge of creating 3D renderings as well as 2D visual merchandising guidelines. In July 2018, she was promoted to a marketing co-ordinator, helping support the marketing manager, and planning and co-ordinating projects among other things.
She left Issey Miyake USA Corp in June 2019, and has since been focused on her career as a choreographer.
Love life and boyfriend
Yoojung hasn’t talked about any boys she might have been with since the launch of her dancing career, but there are rumors circulating the internet that she might have been romantically linked with a boy with whom she danced on multiple occasions – some of her fans even claim to have seen the two spending time together at a restaurant, and later holding hands while walking in the streets.
Another rumor has it that her longest relationship was while she was attending high school, and that she and her high school sweetheart dated for over three years before splitting ways, after he decided to attend college in the US.
As of August 2020, Youjung is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and interests
Yoojung likes to spend time in nature, surrounded by trees and animals, and uses whatever opportunity she gets to run away from overcrowded cities. She is a lover of animals and has a pet cat.
She has been a fan of toys from an early age and this hasn’t stopped to this day.
Yoojung enjoys tasting various cuisines. and likes to eat meat and seafood the most – one of her main hobbies is travelling and she combines this with her interest in food.
She is keen on dressing up for costume parties and always dresses up for Halloween.
Yoojung is physically very active, as she has several training sessions at the gym each week while she is also sporting and is an avid skater.
She likes to watch movies late at night, and her favorite actor and actress are Will Smith and Rosario Dawson, while her favorite film is “Seven Days”.
