Who is ‘The Boyz’ member Kevin Moon?

Early life and education
Kevin was raised alongside his older sister in Vancouver by their father who is a businessman, and their mother who is working as a lawyer. Kevin attended elementary school in Vancouver, the same school which was attended by the famous jazz singer Michael Buble, and while attending seventh grade, he won the Michael Buble Prize for Most Talented Singer.
After that he got to attend a music school, at which he practiced singing, rapping and dancing.
Upon completing his elementary education in 2012, Kevin enrolled at Burnaby Mountain Secondary School, and even though he was mostly focused on singing, he was still among the best students at the school. He matriculated in 2016, and enrolled at the University of British Columbia to study fine arts and psychology, however, he left after only four days to debut with the boy group The Boyz in South Korea.
Singing career and the group The Boyz
Most of the members of the 12-boy group The Boyz were already active in the music industry.
Kevin was a contestant in the music show “Kpop Star 6” but was eliminated very early thus didn’t get to become a member of the new group – he was then invited to sing the original soundtrack (OST) for the drama series “Saimdang, Light’s Diary”, which began airing in April 2017. Sunwoo competed in the music show “High School Rapper” but was soon removed, and Ju Haknyeon competed in the show “Produce 101”, ranking 19th.
The Boyz were announced on 4 July 2017, and starred in their own reality show “Flower Snack” which aired from 23 August to 11 October – their pre-debut single “I’m Your Boy” was released during the show.
On 28 October, their first fan meeting was held called “Heart to Heart”, attended by around 1,000 people. In the following month, the boys became models for Skoolooks school uniforms, and for the Siero Cosmetic brand. By the end of 2017, they had signed a contract with Sony Music, so that they could debut in Japan as well.
Their debut extended play (EP) came out on 6 December 2017 entitled “The First”, with the song “Boy” as its lead single. The Boyz then starred in their second TV show, “The 100”, which aired on the program V Live. They held their first online concert on 23 March 2018, and in the same month performed overseas for the first time at the 12th Asian Films Awards held in Macau, China.
Their second EP came out on 3 April entitled “The Start” with its lead song “Giddy Up”, and on 12 July their new digital single was released entitled “Keeper”, which helped the boys win the Rookie Award at the Korean Brand Awards on 24 July.
They also took part in some philanthropic events including when they appeared in the TV show “Happy Arrived At Our House” which aims to raise awareness regarding street dogs in South Korea – after the show, The Boyz took home two puppies, taking care of them until they were adopted. On 30 August, they won another rookie award at Soribada Best K-Music
Awards, then after five months without any new material, they released their two new songs “The Sphere” and “Right Here”. On 29 November 2018, The Boyz released their third EP “The Only” with its title track “No Air”, and on 1 December they were presented with Best New Male Artist Award at 2018 Melon Music Awards.
After another five months with no new songs, they released their single album “Bloom Bloom” together with its eponymous title track on 29 April 2019, then achieved their first music show victory in “The Show” on 7 May. Their fourth EP was released on 19 August 2019 entitled “Dreamlike” with the song “D.D.D” as its lead single.
The 12-boy group was left without one member – Hwall – after he left on 23 October became of health issues, which were a recurrence of previous problems, and spent several months on hiatus due to this – it’s widely believed that he was struggling with anxiety due to a tight schedule. The Boyz debuted in Japan on 6 November when they released their Japanese EP “Tattoo” and its eponymous title track, and the following month their new digital single came out entitled “White”. To mark the end of 2019, the boys embarked on a European tour – “Dreamlike” – performing in cities such as Berlin in Germany, Paris in France and London in England.

The Boyz released their debut full-length album “Reveal” on 10 February 2020, then announced on 20 March that they would be competing in the music show “Road to Kingdom” – they released a new song for the show’s finale on 12 June entitled “Checkmate”, which won the show for them, and secured the boys a spot in the upcoming reality TV show “Kingdom”.
Love life and girlfriend
Kevin hasn’t mentioned any girls he might have dated since he debuted with The Boyz, and this is believed by many to be because his agency has put a dating ban on him as well as his friends from The Boyz, because of how relationships might affect the group’s popularity.
There have been rumors on the internet claiming that Kevin was seen spending time with a mysterious girl at a café in Seoul, but he hasn’t commented on this, neither has his agency – proving that he is indeed currently seeing someone would most likely mean his departure from the group.
There are also rumors claiming that he was once in a long-term relationship while he was attending high school, and that the two split after he began working on his singing career. According to these rumors, he broke up shortly after debuting with The Boyz, but there are some people who believe that he has continued to secretly date the same girl.
As of August 2020, Kevin is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Kevin is very good at playing the guitar, the piano, and he can also play the saxophone, and on which he likes to practice in his spare time. He is also hoping to learn how to play more instruments in the future, such as the violin or the drums.
He is very talented at drawing, and has drawn caricatures of his group’s members.
Kevin is a huge lover of sweets and his favorite is Mint Chocolate Ice Cream.
He is very good at cooking and occasionally cooks for some of his friends from The Boyz, but not all as there are too many.
He likes to watch movies in his spare time, and his favorites are Disney and Pixar films – some are “How To Train Your Dragon”, “Despicable Me” and “Wall-E”. His favorite actor is the late Robin Williams, and his favorite animated movie starring him is “Aladdin”.
Kevin hates spiders.

Kevin’s age is 22. He has brown hair and brown eyes, his height is 5ft 9ins (1.76m) and he weighs around 145lbs (66kgs).
