Jang Seungyeon (CLC) Wiki
Jang Seungyeon was born in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, South Korea, on 6 November 1996 – her zodiac sing is Scorpio and she holds South Korean nationality. She is a singer, perhaps best known for being a member of the girl group CLC.
Early life and education
Seungyeon was raised an only child in Seongnam by her father who is a truck driver, and her mother who is teaching math at a local high school. She became interested in music at a very early age, and although her parents wanted her to attend a college and obtain a degree, they allowed her to focus on her music career, mostly because she is their only (spoilt?) child.

After she matriculated in 2014, she didn’t to enroll at college, but focused on her career as a singer, and her group CLC.
Career as a singer and her group CLC
CLC started out as a five-girl group made up of Seungyeon, Yujin, Seunghee, Yeeun and Sorn who in 2014 were the back-up dancers for the popular Canadian singer of South Korean origin Gina Jane Choi.
The girls attracted attention even before they officially debuted, as they occasionally sang in the streets to gather money for children with disabilities.
They debuted on 19 March 2015 with the release of their first extended play (EP) “First Love” and its lead song “Pepe” – to promote the song, the girls sang at Seoul’s Acts Hotel. They appeared in a music show for the first time two days later, when they sang in “M Countdown”. CLC’s debut digital single came out on 16 April entitled “Eighteen”, which they promoted by singing in the music show “Music Bank”. On 28 May their second EP came out entitled “Question”, with its lead song “Curious (Like)”.
The girls embarked on their first overseas tour “First Love Promo Tour in Malaysia” on 10 October, and especially for this tour released the special version of their second EP, called “Asia Special Edition”.
In early 2016, they announced that they had welcomed two new girls to the group – Kwon Eunbin and Elkie Chong – and on 29 February the seven girls released their new EP, “Refresh” with its lead track” High Heals”. They made their Japanese debut with their first Japanese EP “High Heels” on 13 April, mostly including Japanese versions of their previously released songs. On 30 May, CLC’s fourth EP came out called “Nu. Clear”, with its lead track “No Oh Oh”, then on 27 July, the girls released their new Japanese EP, “Chamisma” which reached #9 on the Oricon Daily Albums Chart.
They started the year 2017 with a fan meeting held at Tokyo’s Tower Records, and on 17 January released their new Korean EP, “Crystyle” which announced the change of the group’s entire image. It was made up of six songs and reached #6 on the Billboard World Albums Chart, while its lead track “Hobgoblin” reached #4 on the World Digital Song Sales Chart. Their fan club was created not long after, called ‘Cheshire’, and they met for the first time on 27 May at Seoul’s Olympic Hall Muse Live. The girls next EP “Free’sm” came out on 3 August, made up of six songs.
More than half a year passed before CLC released new content, on 1 February 2018 “To The Sky”, the lead track of their next EP “Black Dress”, which came out on 22 February.
On 20 July, CLC held their first solo concert – “CLC Live Show in Hong Kong 2018 – Black Dress” at Macpherson Stadium. Following the charity events CLC organized and attended, they became the ambassadors of the Korea Insulin Dependent Diabetes Association on 17 November 2018.
On 30 January 2019, the girls’ eighth EP came out entitled “No. 1”, alongside its lead song “No”, the EP peaking at #5 on the Billboard World Albums Chart, while its lead track helped them earn their first show victory in “The Show”. Their digital single “Me” was released on 29 May, followed by another single, “Devil” on 6 September – the two singles peaked at #5 and #7 respectively on the US World Digital Songs Chart.
