Who is Kwon Eunbi? Related to Irene?

Kwon Eunbi was born in Geumcheon-Gu, Seoul, South Korea, on 27 September 1995 – her zodiac sign is Libra, and she holds South Korean nationality. Kwon is a singer and a dancer, probably best known for being a member of the girl group IZONE.

There are rumors circulating the internet that Eunbi and Irene – who is a member of the group Red Velvet – might be sisters or even twins because they look alike, however, the two girls have different surnames and are certainly not related.

Childhood, family and education

Eun-bi was raised in Seoul alongside her two-years senior brother by their father, who is the owner of his own small company, and their mother who is working as a secretary. Eun-bi’s parents weren’t supportive of her decision to start a career as a singer, as they believed she wouldn’t be able to make enough money to financially support herself – they wanted her to finish college and become a lawyer or a doctor.

Eun-bi studied at Geum Dong Elementary School, at which she became interested in singing, and her talent was noticed by her teachers who encouraged her to pursue a career as a singer.

After elementary school, she enrolled at Dongil Middle School in Seoul, before she started attending School of Performing Arts Seoul’s Practical Dance Department, at which she perfected her singing while she also practiced dancing and acting. Eun-bi matriculated in 2013, and then enrolled into Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts College’s Broadcasting Department and Entertainment, K-pop, but quit before graduation to focus on her then-band Ye-A.

Career as a singer and the band IZONE

The group’s name Iz*One was chosen by the people on the internet – ‘IZ’ stands for its 12 members, while ‘One’ stands for them being as one.

On 15 June, the reality TV show “Produce 48” began airing on Mnet, created with the goal of finding members for the new band Iz*One – the show finished on 31 August 2018, when 12 out of 96 contestants were chosen to join the group. Seven out of the 12 girls were already active singers, as Hitomi Honda was a member of the Japanese idol group AKB48, and Sakura Miyawaki was an actress and a member of the Japanese idol group HKT48. Nako Yabuki was an actress, having appeared in the movie “Touch” in 2005 as well as many TV series, while Eunbi was a member of the group Ye-A in 2014.

Iz*One was supposed to be managed by both Pledis and Stone Music, however, it was announced in September 2018 that the group would be taken over by Off the Record. The girls’ debut extended play (EP) came out on 29 October 2018 entitled “Color*Iz”, with the song “La Vie en Rose” as the lead track, and on the same day, Iz*One performed at the Olympic Hall in Seoul – apparently all tickets for their concert were sold out in less than a minute. They competed in the music show “M Countdown” on 1 November, and only seven days later they won the show, breaking the record for being the group to win a show as this in the shortest time, only 10 days after they debuted.

In only 24 hours after the music video for “La Vie en Rose” was uploaded onto YouTube, it had gathered close to five million views, thus becoming the most watched debut K-pop music video. The EP “Color*Iz” steadily made its way up on the Gaon Album Chart, peaking at #2 and helped the girls win several New Artist of the Year Awards at Golden Disc Awards, Mnet Asian Music Awards and Seoul Music Awards as well. By the end of 2018, the girls had sung at the FNS Music Festival held in Japan – their first performance overseas – and on 6 December, they signed a contract with EMI Records from Universal Music Japan.

Iz*One sang their debut Japanese song – “Suki to Iwasetai” – on 20 January 2019 at Tokyo Dome City Hall, although the song wasn’t released until 6 February; it became a hit, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 as well as on the Oricon Singles Chart, and was certified platinum on 8 March. The group’s second EP came out on 1 April entitled “Heart*Iz”, with the lead song “Violeta”, and it quickly topped the Oricon Overseas Album Chart and the Gaon Album Chart, while it was certified platinum on 10 October. On 8 June, Iz*One started their tour “Eyes on Me” in Seoul, and on the first day performed two of their new songs – “So Curious” and “Ayayaya” – they ended the tour after having performed in eight cities.

Their new Japanese song “Buenos Aires” came out on 26 June, topping the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and the Oricon Singles Chart, and becoming certified platinum in less than a month. On 6 July, the girls made their debut US performance, when they sang at KCON New York City.

Iz*One released their new Japanese song “Vampire”, on 25 September, which topped the charts once again, and peaked at #52 on the Billboard K-pop Hot 100. Problems started for the group in November, when it was reported that the girls for the group were chosen from the final 20 long before the show “Produce 48” aired its final episode, and because of this, all the activities of Iz*One were cancelled or halted for the situation would be cleared.

Agreement was reached between Iz*One’s agency and the South Korean entertainment retail company CJ ENM on 6 January 2020, and the group continued with their activities – they released their debut full-length album “Bloom*Iz” on 17 February, and in only seven days, the album sold over 350,000 copies, becoming the first girl group to appear on the Hanteo Chart selling more than 300,000 copies in a week.

Most recently, on 15 June 2020, Iz*One released their mini-album “Oneiric Diary”.

Iz*One has collaborated with a variety of clothing companies, such as Skoolooks and Overhit, and have been featured in many magazines, such as the Japanese women’s fashion and lifestyle magazine “Non-no”.

Love life and boyfriend. Has Eun-bi undergone plastic surgery?

Eunbi hasn’t commented on any boys whom she might have dated since the launch of her singing career, and it is very unlikely that she will start a relationship in the near future, as the agencies of K-pop groups don’t allow their rookie artists to date because of the negative effect this might have on the groups’ popularity. However, Eunbi has been criticized for another thing – there are rumors circulating the internet that she might have undergone plastic surgery, which is yet another thing not allowed by her agency. Several pictures were uploaded onto the internet showing Eunbi before and after her debut with Iz*One, and many people have pointed out how there is a huge possibility that she might have undergone plastic surgery.

As of August 2020, Eunbi is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

Eun-bi’s favorite and official color is purple but she is not a huge fan of wearing purple clothes.

Dancing is a very important part of her life, and although the members of Iz*One aren’t allowed to be members of other dance and music groups, Eun-bi was a member of both Iz*One and the dance group PLAY for a while.

She loves eating sweets and her favorite is ice cream while her favorite flavor is chocolate green tea.

Eun-bi prefers to listen to South Korean musician rather than American, and her favorite is IU who is a solo singer and an actress – she has been Eun-bi’s main motivation since the launch of her career. She can also play the guitar and the piano.

Eun-bi is physically active as she has two to three training sessions at the gym each week, while she also likes to go running outdoors.

Some of the things she likes to do in her spare time include go hiking, cycling or watch movies at home – her favorite film is “The House of the Flying Daggers”.

Age, height and net worth

Eunbi’s age is 24. She has long brown hair and brown eyes, is 5ft 3ins (1.6m) tall and weighs around 101lbs (46kgs).

As of August 2020, her net worth has been estimated at around $300,000.
