Upon completing his elementary education, Kang began attending IB Music Academy while he was also physically active, as he played a variety of sports including soccer and tennis. Upon matriculation in 2017, Kang didn’t enroll at a college, but focus on his career as a singer.

Career as a singer and the band ATEEZ

While he was still attending high school, Kang signed a contract with KQ Entertainment, and before KQ created ATEEZ, the boys’ group was called KQ Fellaz. KQ went on to release a series of videos on YouTube called “KQ Fellaz American Training”, which featured the nine boys practicing in Los Angeles, California USA.

The final video in the series was uploaded on 3 July 2018, and featured the boys singing their original song “From”, while it was also announced in the video that Lee Junyoung wouldn’t be part of the official group, making ATEEZ an eight-boy group. On 20 July 2018, the show “Code Name is ATEEZ” began airing on Mnet, serving as an advertisement for the group ATEEZ’s official launch. They made their debut performance at Yes24 Livehall on 24 October, and on the same day released their debut extended play (EP) “Treasure EP.1: All to Zero”, which peaked at #7 on the Gaon Albums Chart. On 25 October 2018, the boys performed for the first time in a show, in “M Countdown” which aired on Mnet.

They started the year 2019 with the release of their second EP “Treasure EP.2: Zero to One” on 15 January, with the song “Say My Name” as its lead single. Around ten days later, they announced they were going on their first tour around the USA to perform in cities such as Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California – all tickets were sold in only a couple of hours. Love life and girlfriend

Kang hasn’t talked about any girls he might have dated since the launch of his singing career, and this is normal as KQ Entertainment has put a dating ban on members of ATEEZ, while the boys also aren’t allowed to smoke, drink alcohol nor undergo plastic surgery.

Kang has, however, talked about his ideal type of a girl, to be someone who always puts other people’s needs in front of hers, because he believes he is that kind of a guy who would always think of her before thinking of himself. There are rumors circulating the internet that he was in a relationship while attending high school, and that he broke up with the girl shortly before he was made a member of ATEEZ.

As of July 2020, Kang is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
