Early life, sister and education

Song was raised in Seoul alongside his younger sister Song Eunjin, who is known as ‘ulzzang’ (‘very pretty’) by their father, who is the owner of a barbeque store, and their mother who is working at the very store. Song became interested in acting while growing up, as he spent most of his free time in front of the TV watching movies and TV series.

He was a member of his high school’s drama club, and appeared in several plays while there, before he was noticed by a scout working at YG Entertainment, who invited him to attend his first audition. At first Song wanted to pursue his acting career, but after being advised by a YG employee, he started to work on his vocal skills, which eventually led him to become a member of iKON.

Song matriculated from high school in 2013, then didn’t pursue a college degree, but focused on his career as a singer.

Singing career and the group YG iKON

Many of the iKON members were already active in the music industry before the group was created – B.I had performed with MC Mong on several of his songs including “Indian Boy”, and also sang with him at the 2009 SBS Dream Concert; Ju-ne was only 13 when he appeared in the music show “Star King”. The boys who became trainees at YG were divided into Team A and Team B, and were competing in the reality survival show “WIN: Who Is Next”. Team A eventually won, while Team B got to release their two singles “Climax” and “Just Another Boy”, and went on to compete in the reality TV show “Mix & Match”.

Love life and girlfriend

While Song hasn’t talked about the rumors himself, it was reported in August 2019 that he was in a relationship with Daisy, a member of the girl group Momoland, and that they were dating for around three months at the time.

The two met years before that, and were close friends before fans saw them spending time together and kissing on multiple occasions. Song’s agency investigated the alleged relationship and eventually revealed that the two were indeed dating, but were not seeing one another often because of the obligations they have towards their groups. Daisy’s agency MLD Entertainment had also reported that the two were dating.

So as of August 2020, Song is in a relationship with Momoland’s Daisy, he hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
